High School Service Programs (ALLIES)

ALLIES Program

ALLIES is an educational enrichment program that works with students at IMSA and statewide to develop, mentor, train, manage, and supervise IMSA student volunteers to work with participants in our in-person and virtual STEM enrichment outreach programs. It prepares the high school students to deliver inquiry-based, hands-on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics activities (STEM) to younger students. ALLIES learn 21st-century workforce readiness skills, including best practice collaboration, critical thinking, leadership, and communication skills.

IMSA’s ALLIES utilizes the “Kids Teaching Kids” model that was established over a decade ago at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy (IMSA). As a teaching and learning laboratory for imagination and inquiry, IMSA has incubated the ALLIES program to maturity and has expanded the program to include students outside of the Aurora campus, giving the same opportunities to students in Chicago and MetroEast areas.

Currently, there are two locations for the ALLIES Program; the IMSA Aurora Campus, and a program facilitated at Belleville East High School in Belleville, IL.
