In-Person Experiences

Neelyx Labs


We have two potential areas of interest in which an internship project may be possible: (1) Wastewater based epidemiology for non-respiratory infectious disease. Students will learn about this modality, meet community partners, participate in sample collection, analytical design, and/or laboratory analysis. Students with interest in environmental science, public health, and/or epidemiology could enjoy this work. (2) Developing non -invasive and/or alternative modalities to access clinical diagnostic testing. Students will learn about the field of clinical laboratory diagnostics, meet patients and healthcare providers, participate in IRB-approved clinical studies, learn from a laboratory scientist mentor, and/or analyze patient/clinical study data. Students with interest in medicine, allied health professions, and/or public health could enjoy this work.

Summer Camp Planning and Marketing Assistant


We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated interns to join our team in planning, implementing, and facilitating our Summer Camp for children ages 3 through 8th grade. Interns will have the unique opportunity to work alongside experienced counselors to directly facilitate camp activities, ensuring a fun and educational experience for all participants. In addition to hands-on camp leadership, interns will help create marketing materials for both our summer and fall programming and support the management of our social media channels. Interns will also have the chance to learn about and assist with writing grants, gaining valuable experience in fundraising and nonprofit operations. This internship offers a well-rounded experience in program management, youth engagement, communications, and more, making it an ideal opportunity for those looking to grow their skill set in a dynamic, real-world setting.

Interactive Web Platform for AlphaScenario.com LLC


The project involves developing an interactive web platform, AlphaScenario.com, where users can create and share educational scenarios. Students will work on building UI/UX features, integrating AI-driven content generation tools, and improving back-end algorithms to support complex scenario interactions. They will also have the opportunity to develop new features based on user feedback and implement A/B testing to refine the platform's functionalities.

Interactive Web Platform for AlphaScenario.com LLC


This internship invites students to develop and refine AlphaScenario.com, an interactive web platform designed for scenario-based learning. Interns will collaborate on a range of tasks, from UI/UX improvements and AI-driven content generation to more advanced back-end work. They will focus on recommendation algorithms that personalize educational content, as well as data visualization tools—such as heatmaps—to help teachers and students analyze user interactions more effectively. Students will gain firsthand experience with a diverse tech stack, including Node.js, MongoDB, and React, while learning best practices for version control, real-time collaboration, and iterative feature development. By contributing to ongoing improvements in logging systems, graph-based scenario mapping, and user feedback loops, interns will learn how modern web technologies can support innovative teaching methods and meaningful educational outcomes.

Experience with or interest in UI/UX principles, version control (Git), and testing frameworks will also be beneficial. Strong communication skills and a cherished interest in educational technologies are essential, as students will be working in a collaborative environment, contributing to design discussions, code reviews, and strategic feature planning.

We are on a mission to provide our college counseling services to underrepresented students who cannot afford private college counseling. We specifically want to know how to reach these students who are high-achieving and need guidance to succeed during high school. The interns would help us identify ways to reach these students and can help in the development of new apps or technologies that could reach these students.
