Personal Reflections

August 19, 2020

Dear IMSA Community,

It’s hard to believe that we kicked off the new Academic Year 2020-2021 with Convocation on Monday, August 17, 2020. If you joined us, you know that while it was our very first virtual convocation, it provided us with inspiration and encouragement to begin the new year with confidence and realistic optimism.

I appreciate our students’ efforts along with StudCo in preparing the videos and the Convocation program. Special thanks to Eric Pan ’21, Jessica Lyseng ’22, Elasia Rodriguez ’21, Neil Dighe ’22, Gabi Velazquez ’22, and our alumni, Hieu Nguyen ’17 and Renzo Ledesma ’19 who created an original musical piece to mark the festivities.

A very special thanks to Dr. Lynn Sosa-Bergeron ’94 who provided the keynote. Dr. Sosa took time out of her busy schedule as a Medical Director and Deputy State Epidemiologist for the Connecticut Department of Public Health. She has an open invitation to any future convocation to attend along with her family since we were not able to host her on campus earlier this week.

Enjoy the video. Some have asked for my script and PowerPoint and I am happy to provide them.

Have a fantastic 2020-2021 Academic Year!

Respectfully,

José M. Torres, Ph.D.
