Graphic Design and Branding Specialist

With a lifelong passion for creativity and purpose-driven design, Tatum has built a dynamic career as a graphic design professional specializing in impactful communication. Her journey began in the seventh grade when she confidently told her mother she wanted to work in “the art part of advertising.” That dream took root in high school, where hands-on vocational training in graphic design introduced her to professional tools and the collaborative process of client work. Her early experiences solidified a clear career path, leading her to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Visual Communications from Northern Illinois University (NIU).

During her time at NIU, Tatum juggled a full-time class schedule and multiple jobs, demonstrating her resilience and commitment to achieving her goals. Her transformative internship in the marketing department of a local health system fueled her passion for using design to make a difference. After graduation, she spent a decade as a graphic and web designer in the healthcare sector, creating campaigns that promoted community health initiatives, free screenings, and preventive care. These projects deepened her sense of purpose, solidifying her belief that design can be a tool for good.

Today, Tatum brings her expertise to the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy (IMSA) as a Graphic Design Specialist, where she contributes to advancing educational initiatives. She previously served as Communications Manager for the United Leukodystrophy Foundation, further broadening her impact in the nonprofit sector. Inspired by her mother’s dedication to lifelong learning, Tatum pursued an advanced education to refine her skills in leadership, brand management, and marketing ethics, earning a master’s in Communication Management and Public Relations from the University of Denver in 2024.

As a wife and mother of two, she strives to set an example for her children while continuing to use her talents to inspire positive change in the community.
