Ms. Katie Berger
Chief Student Affairs Officer
Katie Berger serves as the Chief Student Affairs Officer at IMSA. She first came to IMSA in 2013 to oversee service learning and the LEAD program. That year, she worked with LEAD facilitators to design the Student Leadership Exchange (SLX), an annual event to showcase LEAD capstone projects, providing sophomore students with valuable experience collaboratively presenting their work to internal evaluators as well as community leaders. Since then, Katie has served as the Associate Director of Student Affairs and Chief Hearing Officer before being appointed to her current role. As a former leadership studies instructor for undergraduates, Katie enjoys helping students build confidence as leaders and change agents. She loves spending time mentoring students as they create a new IMSA initiative or propose an evolution to a current IMSA practice.
Katie’s favorite IMSA memory is hosting the 2019 International Student Science Fair (ISSF). Serving as the program committee chair during this first ISSF event held in the United States, Katie and a team of IMSA colleagues integrated enrichment sessions and cultural experiences into the research and science learning opportunities provided to students, teachers and principals from 20+ countries. When Katie isn’t on campus serving IMSA or completing coursework for her doctoral program at Northeastern University, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Ted, and their two kids, Eliza and Bennett. Katie is also a proud alumna of Bradley University, where she currently serves as the President of the Bradley University Alumni Association.
