Bio:

Janice L. Krouse, Ed.D., has over 30 years of experience in mathematics education. As a member of the mathematics faculty at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy (IMSA), she has served as Curriculum and Assessment Leader for mathematics, mathematics placement coordinator, Principal’s Office Designee, Curriculum & Assessment Leader Designee, Faculty liaison to the Board of Trustees and co-chair for personalized learning plans. In these roles, Dr. Krouse has guided teachers in their use of collaboration and higher order thinking in the classroom, instructional strategies, writing in mathematics and formative assessment. Dr. Krouse also serves as the sponsor for IMSA’s chapter of the mathematics honor society, Mu Alpha Theta. In addition, Dr. Krouse provides professional development and curricular support at IMSA and to schools in Illinois and beyond. Dr. Krouse is a current board member of the Metropolitan Mathematics Club of Chicago (MMC) and has served as President of the Mathematics Department Heads of the Western Chicago Suburbs. She is a regular presenter at the National and Illinois Councils of Teachers of Mathematics Conferences and is a member of the National Council of Supervisors of Mathematics. Dr. Krouse earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary mathematics education from Clarion University of Pennsylvania, a master’s degree in mathematical sciences from Clemson (SC) University, and a doctorate in mathematics education from the University of Pittsburgh (PA).
