Summer @ IMSA Programs

We can’t wait for Summer! IMSA’s hands-on, inquiry-based summer programs foster collaborative and creative problem-solving in a supportive and fun environment.  We hope your child will come think, explore, and create with us this summer!

Summer@IMSA programs are offered in Aurora, Chicago, Springfield and Belleville. Programs are designed for students entering 3rd through 10th grades (Fall 2018), who love learning!  IMSA offers limited financial-need-based scholarship assistance in the Aurora, Springfield, and Metro-East programs. In additon, IMSA provides a specially-funded program for Chicago Public School students at a highly reduced rate.

The curriculum for IMSA student enrichment programs are created and developed by IMSA curriculum writers. All of IMSA’s programs are directed by IMSA staff and many of our day programs in Aurora and Chicago are taught by members of IMSA’s Allies or SITE programs. IMSA Allies also serve as group leaders/counselors in each program.
Registration for IMSA summer programs will open February 13 at 8 a.m. for our residential programs and February 20 at 8 a.m. for our day programs. Choose programs based on the grade your child will enter in the fall of 2018. Helpful Information for Summer @ IMSA Registration

Program Cancellation

IMSA reserves the right to cancel a program due to low enrollment. Programs canceled by IMSA because of low enrollment will be automatically refunded in full.

Scholarship Information

IMSA does provide a limited amount of financial-need–based scholarships for its summer programs. This year scholarships for Residential Programs will be offered on a rolling basis, so it is to your benefit to complete your scholarship application as early as possible. All scholarship recipients will be responsible for a $30 administrative fee, no matter what amount of aid they receive. All scholarship materials for both day and residential programs are due by April 1. If you are offered a scholarship, you will need to accept by the date contained in your scholarship offer email. Please check your SPAM filter settings to ensure emails from "" are not being routed to Junk, Spam or Trash folders, as the scholarship “acceptance by” date is firm.
Applying for a financial-need-based scholarship does not guarantee an award or registration into the summer program. Priority will be given to qualified applicants who have not received a summer scholarship before. You may choose to either pay for program registration OR apply for a scholarship and await award notification.  Scholarship applications will not be accepted along with a paid registration.
Residential Programs
Residential scholarships will range from partial to full scholarships, depending on a family’s financial situation.  During the scholarship application process you will be asked to submit proof of family income. The online application for Residential program scholarships will open February 13.

Day programs

Full financial-need-based scholarships for our day programs are available. Applicants must demonstrate financial need by submitting proof of eligibility in the State Free or Reduced Lunch Program  or by submitting proof of family income through your 2017 tax return. The online application for day program scholarships will open on February 20.

Requests to pair students

IMSA will do its best to honor a request to pair TWO students together in the same group. The reciprocal request must be made by both parties. No more than one mutual request will be honored (i.e. we cannot group three students together). Information on how to request this can be found in the confirmation email you will receive after registration.

A cafeteria lunch provided by Sodexho, IMSA’s contracted food provider, is included with all Aurora programs. Vegetarian options are available. Some offsite (non-Aurora) programs also include a lunch. Check location details for more information.  Participants can bring a lunch if they prefer.
