Grades 3-4
Investigate the most useful irrational number, Pi! Through hands-on activities participants will explore mathematics concepts such as size, shape, circumference, diameter, and fractions, discovering along the way that math can be as easy as Pi! No matter which way you ‘slice it’ this Pi will leave students ‘hungry’ for more!

Grades 5-6
3-2-1-LAUNCH! Student Engineers will investigate the four forces of flight (thrust, drag, lift, and gravity) and Newton’s 2nd Law of Motion, through hands on explorations. In addition, participants will design and engineer their own flying object. Finally, these young scientists will explore the variables involved in launching their objects.

Metro East FUNshops:

Invention Convention!

Registration Fee: $30

Anyone can be an inventor, designer, or engineer! You just need imagination and a few materials. Students will put this to the test in this fun, hands-on session. After an introduction to the science of circuits they will explore the world of littleBits (modular circuitry parts) and use them to complete an open-ended design challenge. Both grade groupings will be exploring littleBits but will have different, age-appropriate challenges. Come think, explore, and create with  us!
