IMSA for Illinois

A Laboratory for Illinois

IMSA serves both its students on campus and students across Illinois -- and these two groups help serve each other. Several IMSA students take breaks from their own paths of Inquiry to give back to the rest of Illinois through The Center @ IMSA's outreach programs, and many of the students across Illinois served by The Center apply and gain admission to our on-campus preparatory program.

Above, students at an IMSA Kids Institute® session spend some time in our BP-Amoco organic chemistry lab.

IMSA for Illinois' Teachers

IMSA is a focal point for teacher professional development. Through the Center@IMSA program, Illinois educators learn about the latest developments in mathematics, science and technology instruction. More than 18,000 educators have benefited from IMSA's professional development offerings.

Teachers partake of IMSA's professional development offerings in facilities like our Tellabs Studio for Professional Development (above), in teleconferences and symposia held across Illinois, and sometimes in spontaneous, minds-on/hands-on activities in our hallways (above bottom).

IMSA for Illinois' Students

More than 34,000 students in Illinois and beyond have benefited from our Center@IMSA program of student enrichment. The Center@IMSA delivers after-school, summer and weekend programs to students in grades 2-8. Students might be building a five-foot long Kaleidoscope. They might be determining how a two-liter bottle rocket can reach the highest altitude. In any case, students have fun learning and doing mathematics and science!
